Sushi Products Suggestions

If you are interested in learning how to make your own sushi at home, are a sushi fanatic like myself, or wanting to buy sushi gifts or sushi presents for someone you know, you've come to the right place!

If there is one thing you must have, I highly recommend buying a sushi rice cooker

Rice cookers can cook every type of rice, specify what type of rice you are cooking (sushi, white, brown, a few others) with extra settings like "softer" or "harder". After extensive reviewing of sushi rice makers, I found that the vast majority of people prefer "Zojirushi" brand of rice makers, specifically those that have a "Sushi" rice setting on them (which is pretty much all of them). I bought one of these myself a few years ago, and WOW what a difference it makes in preparing the sushi rice. As I mentioned on the "Sushi Recipe" page, I explain how to cook sushi rice from home with simply a pot of water and rice. That is the painful way to do it, but the less expensive way. It is a much bigger mess to clean up than using a rice cooker. You can get a really good sushi rice maker for a really great price! You can just put the rice into the rice cooker, with water, press the button on the rice cooker, and walk away. It beeps when the rice is done. It comes out perfect every time! With a pot of rice and water, rice always gets burned on the bottom of the pot, the rice in the middle doesnt get cooked the same amount as the rice on top, uneven textures between mushy and slightly overcooked rice can ruin what whould have otherwise been a good sushi feast.

Other products you are likely to need if you want to make sushi are: Bamboo mats, Nori (seaweed sheets), and probably "short grain" rice also known as sush rice -- most grocery stores, at least around here, dont even sell sushi rice, and I have to drive 20 miles to the nearest asian food market to pick some up. It costs less for me to just buy it online and have it shipped to my house, once calculating the price of gas to fill up my car on those "wasted" miles to the asian market.

If there are any sushi products you are looking for and can't find, you might try using the "Submit" page contact form, ask me, I just might know where you can get it!

Nobu's culinary creations are based on the practice of simplicity the art of using simple techniques to bring out the flavors in the best ingredients the world's oceans have to offer and on his unique combinations of Japanese cuisine and imaginative Western, particularly South American, cooking.
While simplicity may be the rule in his cooking, exotic ingredients are the key to his signature style: in Matsuhisa Shrimp he combines shiitake mushrooms, shiso leaves, and caviar; Octopus Tiradito is made with yuzu juice and rocoto chili paste; he even gives away the secrets to making his world-famous Seafood Ceviche, Nobu Style.
In all, fifty original recipes for fish and seafood are included with step-by-step instructions and lavish color photographs. It features all Nobu's signature dishes along with salads, vegetable dishes, and dessert recipes, while a special chapter about pairing drinks with the meals rounds out the selections. A chapter dedicated to sushi instructs readers how to make Nobu's own original Soft Shell Crab Roll, Salmon Skin Roll and House Special Roll.
Throughout the book the author shares stories of his rich and varied life: his childhood memories of rural Japan; the beginning of his career; his meteoric rise to the top, as one of the most renowned chefs of his generation.
Featuring a preface by Robert De Niro, a foreword by Martha Stewart and an afterward by Japanese actor Ken Takakura, Nobu: The Cookbook is sure to be the season's hottest cookbook and a sure-fire classic for Japanese cooks and foodies alike.
